Your pet’s safety and comfort are our top priority here at Animal Health Care Center of Renton. Before your pet undergoes surgery, they will be examined for any conditions that could interfere with anesthesia, and they will be closely monitored afterward to help ensure a safe and comfortable recovery. We’re happy to report that our patients typically do very well, and we expect everything to go smoothly.

For our mature patients (over six years of age) and those with chronic health concerns, we recommend more extensive medical testing to evaluate your pet’s overall health before anesthesia and/or surgery. A doctor or technician will discuss this with you. In some cases, we may adjust medications or procedures to make them safer, or occasionally postpone surgery until a medical issue is resolved.

Even for our healthy, younger patients, pre-anesthetic blood testing—though not required—can provide peace of mind by confirming that all is well. On rare occasions, these tests may reveal an underlying problem that changes our surgical plan.

I hereby authorize and direct Animal Health Care Center of Renton Clinic to perform the procedure(s) noted above and to administer anesthetics or other drugs as deemed advisable for my pet. I understand the nature of the procedures and the relative risks involved. I authorize Animal Health Care Center of Renton Clinic to provide any appropriate care should an unexpected complication arise.

I fully release Animal Health Care Center of Renton Clinic and Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health from any legal and financial responsibilities arising from anesthetic complications.
